RIDGECREST, California — November 5, 2026. Two Sierra Sands Unified School District trustee areas had separate November 3 elections. In Trustee Area 2, Emily A. Robinson Garver leads Jessica Allen with 477 votes to 392. In Trustee Area 3, Tim Johnson leads T. Chad Houck with 1,007 votes to 463, according to Kern County’s November 4 county election-night report.

Area 2: an 85-vote lead

The Area 2 result is 54.89% for Robinson Garver and 45.11% for Allen in the 869 valid votes reported. The gap is relatively modest for a one-seat trustee-area race. More legally eligible ballots might change totals and percentages, and the county has not provided this article with an exact outstanding-ballot count specific to Area 2.

Area 3: a different electorate

Area 3 lists Johnson with 68.50% and Houck with 31.50% of valid choices in that area. The reported 544-vote margin is larger, but neither lead is certified. Voters living in Area 2 are not automatically eligible to choose the Area 3 trustee, and the two local totals must not be added as if this were one districtwide contest.

Why it matters for families

School trustees oversee district budgeting, facilities, policies and superintendent governance. Residents interested in school construction, transportation and classroom resources should follow official board records as well as election results. A school board is distinct from the municipal council and from the separate Trona Joint Unified district spanning Kern-adjacent counties.

Local coverage connection

California58 also has reporting on the Ridgecrest mayoral count. This article is for separate school trustees, with source times preserved rather than reusing city vote totals.
